SANTA & COLE
Santa & Cole has been an independent and global editor of design products since 1985. Thirty six years later and following the same approach they have followed as furniture editors, the company is now expanding its catalogue by publishing books, artworks and musical instruments.
Since the brand is best known for producing some of the finest lighting products in the market, it made total sense to use light as the main character to introduce their new lines of business.

MJ LLERGO ( SANACIÓN, Sony Music, 2020 )
Born in Córdova (Spain), María José Llergo is one of the most outstanding emerging voices of contemporary flamenco. At only 25 years of age she combines her knowledge of traditional music with many other modern influences. SONY commissioned us to design the visual assets for her first album "Sanación" (Sony Music, 2020). The artist asked for two concepts to be in the cover, the idea of an empowered woman and some reference to the universe and the planets. The solution was to deconstruct an equestrian statue, which typically portraits figures of powerful men like rulers or military commanders.

THE WHEEL
Honne is a new fashion brand from Barcelona that pays homage to the modern woman, sophisticate and with a free soul. She is timeless, unique and eclectic. As part of the launch of its new image, the brand commissioned a fashion film from us to explore these values, as well as their relationship to the art world and specifically with sculpture.
The house of the artist Xavier Corberó seemed to us the perfect location for the filming, as the space is also constructed as an artistic project in itself. More than an interior concept, the building resembles a Greek temple where the interior is subordinated to the exterior. A large habitable sculpture whose arches are repeated across the different modules that make up the house, creating an infinite network of impossible and labyrinthine spaces, similar to the imaginary worlds of M.C. Escher.
Influenced by the arches and geometric elements of the house, we decided to use a wheel as a metaphor for the infinite and the eternal, an element that we use to open and close the film in order to emphasize this idea. The piece is structured in three parts. During the first two, the wheel and the dancer Rachel Salzman, dressed in clothes from the latest collection, interact and in doing so show us the different spaces of the house. In the third and last part, these two protagonists merge into a final dance before separating again so that we may see the recurring image of the wheel spinning upon itself in a continuous, stable, infinite movement.

DROPBOX ( COMMUNICATION )
At a time when most creative partnerships happen online, Dropbox and The California Sunday Magazine have launched the Dropbox Stories campaign. Twenty-five creatives from all over the world (musicians, designers, photographers, directors, and others) have worked together to create three artworks that explore the limits of creativity and delve into the three most important elements in all creative processes: collaboration, community and communication. The piece directed by Albert Moya is entitled Communication. Querida was responsible for the art direction.
Artist Laila Gohar created a food volcano that caught Albert Moya’s attention a few years ago. This was the real starting point for Communication, a piece that explains how four creatives with diverse aesthetics, located in different countries tried to build an actual food volcano in Iceland using Dropbox and Paper as their tools for communication, exchanging ideas and swapping all kinds of files. Communication stars the director in Florence, Querida in Barcelona and Laila Gohar and Omar Sosa (a graphic designer) in New York.
The result is a ‘moving collage’ of found footage, screen captures and smartphone images. This volcano was born out of a visual dialogue between the four artists. As in the iconic work of Chris Marker, it uses the free association of images and ideas. A voice-over accompanies explanatory text that reinforces the poetic and visual intentions. This warm voice has a synthetic touch, like the volcano in construction, made of organic material, yet artificial.
The film is like a palimpsest created using different layers of meaning and references in which the final layered image is also a geographical feature. A visual eruption built using a variety of semantic visual fields in which the image erupts like a fault in the earth’s crust, unifying time and space.

PANORAMA - WEBSITE
Panorama is born with a concrete approach: to create and beef up a global conscience about the distinct challenges we all have in relation with the territory and landscape. The website lumps together different artistic projects to try to reach, on its easiest and understandable way, this reflection to a broad set of the society.

ROSALIA ( AUNQUE ES DE NOCHE, Universal Music, 2017 )
Rosalía is one of a kind. She combines her knowledge of traditional music with modern influences and collaborations with artists like C.Tangana or La Fura dels Baus in order to break the rules of the traditional flamenco.

MACBA ( THE HERMETIC BELL )
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) contacted us to create the graphic image of "The Hermetic Bell", an installation that the artist Francesc Torres had created exclusively for the museum, which was formed from his personal archive of objects donated to the museum. Torres is a plastic artist, curator and essayist.
This artistic installation is a sort of nostalgic entomology, "sediments of memory"formed by numerous objects that the artist has been collecting since childhood. Objects that act as silent testimonies of both recent history and personal history. An anthropological archive in which we find everything from toys to souvenirs, or the remains of military conflicts.
As the artist said, "this has all fallen down to fill several attics and this museum space." In this sense, the visual identity of the exhibition works as a reverberation of this "falling" of objects that "fill attics" and exhibition spaces, forming layers of experiences and memories. The carefully chosen pieces create a visual impact that functions as an orderly accumulation wherein the artist's intimate memory contaminates the graphic image.
A Barcelona taxi's door as a central element and spatial reference point welcoming us both graphically and in terms of the exhibition. Masks of a bygone age and faraway places. Bombs, guns, bullets, and traces of ancient conflicts that the artist did not experience. Toy cars, irreverent souvenirs, family photographs, graphic documents, prehistoric tools that shape a constellation of objects reminiscent of the Wunderkammern or Cabinet of Wonders. A window to memory through objects.
